SUB URBAN SECRET JAM
Organized by Blight
Society, which I think is inactive these days, the Sub Urban Secret
Jam saw a whole lot graffiti and street artists painting up a boring stretch
of wall. I think there were actually artist studios inside the building,
which makes it quite appropriate as well.
This was probably the first time I had integrated drop shadows into my work. I don't know why it took me so many years to get around to that but once I saw how good they can look, I was sold. A lot of people, when seeing the photos, think I painted onto glass and the shadows are genuine, which is ahigh (unintentional) compliment. I really like how the characters look like they're coming away from the wall, a bit of depth always improves a piece and my work can run the risk of being a bit too flat at times.
And don't miss the film below I shot of the day's actions, so many skilled guys doing their thing that day.
