This year's Upfest was another
collaboration, this time between me and Boe,
although by the time you're reading this, he's probably changed his alias.
I think Boe is his fourth one but I don't think anyone truly knows.
It was so enjoyable to be painting on a genuine stone wall this year, as previous times I had painted on a boat and then onto some old doors. It just feels so much more satisfying when you're paint on a solid wall! Anyway, we came up with the idea of doing a snakes and ladders board together, so Boe handled the snakes and I painted in the ladders being put up and used by my little guys.
I think we spent at least the first two or three hours measuring out and painting the grid for the board, not forgetting each square's numbers. We used masking tape to paint the straight lines and once we had that 'base' down, we could get to work with our stencils.
Later in the day, Nol rocked up and painted something like his third piece of the day. Using some of our cans, he managed to incorporate our game board into the background for his character beautifully, which turned out great. If it hadn't been for Nol, we would've been left with a fairly large gap to the left of our piece.
All in all, another perfect Upfest weekend!
