STOP, SLEDGEHAMMER TIME!
The cracks are starting to show...
This piece is based off of a street piece I had done, which involved
me fixing a tile up in public with this same image and then hitting it
with a hammer to get the cracks. People liked it so much I created an
edition for sale via streetart.nl
where the tile was mounted onto a pane perspex.
I like the fact each tile was (without much choice) uniquely cracked. I also like that there's very little artifice, which is to say it's a picture of a man hitting a tile with a hammer and the cracks were made by a man hitting a tile with a hammer. The perspex was clear, so it was actually possible to see the reverse side of the tile (unfortunately I never got a photo of this), although it was mostly obscured by the glue I had used to keep the tile in place.
