You can watch a video of how this screen print came together just at the bottom of this page :)

This is my first screen print in two years and I forgot how manually intensive it is! There's no hitting File > Print here. It's about forcing ink through a mesh onto the paper underneath and building up the piece one colour at a time. It's a lot like spraying stencils and I think that explains why I like it so much as a process.

So given the overwhelming response to the figure's 'new shapes', I thought I'd make a print incorporating all 50 of them whilst the small one looks on from the side. It's the least I could do, since they invented all of them.

I also love how the different inks print over each other, creating new colours and shapes. The films used to transfer the shapes to the screens are actually sprayed stencils of each shape too and I like the physicality of that, as opposed to digitally printing the films out.

I really, really am honoured you all enjoy the little figure so much and your continued support, whether it's a 'like' or buying something from the store, means I can keep making these fun things. And for those of you that are curious, this animation used 354 unique wooden frames, cut out on a CNC machine and then hand sanded, primed and stenciled. There's no 3D CGI here!
