A sculpture ten years in the making.

It's human nature to take the things you CAN do for granted and only see the things you can't. It's a double-edged sword. It wills you forward and doesn't let you rest on your laurels. However, it also blinds you to hard fought victories and how far you've come.

So when I peered at all the used spray paint caps that I've been collecting since I became a professional artist, it served as a weird breadcrumb trail back in time.

I saw myself at the start. Younger, fewer scars and not knowing a damn thing. But with each blocked cap, I learnt something new. I kept going, never quite content enough to stop, but I also kept each cap. A little memento from a stupid little point in time.

And now it's the now. But what will I make of myself in another ten years' time when I look back at this point? I think I know the answer: younger, fewer scars, not knowing a damn thing.

If it's not, something's gone wrong.
