I suspect the whole workshop could be made of glass and I'd still lose track of the time as night collapses over me. It's all too easy for me to enter a flow state when drawing, painting or assembling my work. Thoughts about how to repair that leaky roof, the throbbing finger cut I accidentally gave myself earlier or even my usually dominant sense of appetite all fall away.

I recognize this isn't exclusive to art and what gets you into this state may well vary but man, for me, it's making things. It tickles a disproportionate part of my brain just right. As far as I'm concerned, there are few greater feelings than wrestling an idea out of your head, adjusting to the consequences of reality and shaping it into something you can touch.

Honestly, I don't know if the clock will help me miss fewer lunchbreaks or stop me being surprised by the fact the moon is out.

And if I think about it, I'm not sure I want it to.
